Amazon Will End Its FBA Prep Services in 2026: What It Means for Sellers

A major shift in FBA logistics is coming

In the summer of 2025, Amazon officially notified all sellers that it will discontinue its internal FBA prep services globally as of January 1, 2026.

Here’s what the company stated:

“Prep services will be discontinued globally starting January 1, 2026. Sellers are encouraged to ensure proper labeling and prep before sending inventory to fulfillment centers.”

This decision marks a turning point. From now on, Amazon will no longer bag, label, or bundle your inventory. If your products arrive unprepared, they will be rejected, delayed, or incur additional handling fees - with no guarantees.

Why does this matter?

Until now, many sellers - especially beginners or those with small volumes - relied on Amazon’s internal FBA prep services to meet compliance requirements. While limited, these services provided a safety net.

With the global shutdown, sellers are 100% responsible for ensuring that all products are correctly prepared before reaching Amazon’s fulfillment centers.

❌ Incorrect labeling? Your shipment may be rejected.

❌ Wrong packaging? Expect delays and extra costs.

❌ Non-compliant product prep? You risk account warnings or suspensions.

Prep centers: more important than ever

With Amazon stepping back from FBA prep, external prep centers become a mission-critical part of your supply chain.

However, not all prep centers are created equal. That’s why Amazon created the SPN – Service Provider Network: a global list of audited, verified partners who meet their strict quality standards.

What is an SPN Partner?

Amazon’s Service Provider Network (SPN) is a curated list of companies that have been audited and approved by Amazon to support sellers in key areas such as:

✅ FBA/FBM Prep Services

✅ Brand Registry Support

✅ Listing Translation & Localization

✅ Tax & Legal Advisory

✅ Advertising & PPC Management

✅ Account Support & Troubleshooting

✅ Photography & Product Design

SPN partners undergo a rigorous audit process, including checks on operational capacity, turnaround time, automation, data security, and service quality. This is not a simple application - it’s ongoing performance validation.

What makes SPN prep centers different?

Amazon is expected to prioritize SPN-certified centers in the coming years for future API access, Seller Central integrations, and potential partner recommendations.

Being an SPN prep center means:

🔹 Full alignment with Amazon FBA/FBM policies

🔹 24–48h SLA for most shipments

🔹 Full traceability and real-time inventory visibility

🔹 Multilingual communication and documentation

🔹 Automated workflows with minimal human error

🔹 Direct compatibility with Amazon’s systems
